Portraits, Masks and Hanging Gardens at the Factory Museum

On Friday, 16th September at 12.00, the Factory Museum will host an opening of exhibitions and installations referring to Polish folk crafts and multicultural traditions – PORTRAITS, MASKS AND HANGING GARDENS.

The exhibition consists of several parts:

1. Ethnic couples from four continents. The exhibition of masks – portraits inspired by folklore presents the heads of women and men – inhabitants of four continents of Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

The works by Joanna Tumiłowicz were made of yarn. The exhibition will present 4 pairs of portraits inspired by the costumes of Highlanders, Maasai, Mexicans and Japanese people.

2. The exhibition presenting portraits of representatives of various cultures includes 12 acrylic paintings on canvas. Joanna Aninowska is the author of the works. The portraits show people from Japan, Mexico, Palestine and India.

3. The spatial installation HANGING GARDENS – prepared by artist Magdalena Wojtyniak-Sacharz together with the participants of art classes IMAGINATION STUDIO at the Youth Centre.

4. An exhibition of works by Teresa Foks, the embroiderer, combined with a bead embroidery show. The author cultivates the traditions of Lowicz embroidery.

5. Exhibition of works by the winners of the GOLDEN BOAT 2022 – DRAWING AND PAINTING competition and the gala of giving out awards.

The festival is organized by the Foundation for the Promotion and Support of Creativity CONVIVO and Julian Tuwim Youth Centre in Łódź.

The festival is held under the honorary patronage of the the Mayor of the City of Łódź, Hanna Zdanowska. Media patrons are TVP3 Łódź and Radio Łódź.

The task “12th International Festival of Youth Creativity FOLK INSPIRATIONS” is carried out thanks to co-financing from the budget of the City of Łódź.
