Menchaca Folkloric Ballet „I Love Mexico” is a progressive project founded in 1987 at the initiative of the Instituto Mexiquense de Cultura, with the aim of disseminating and saving the heritage of the region, which, thanks to the outstanding leadership and direction of its founder, choreographer and director, María Dolores Oliver Rodríguez (Menchaca), has become one of Mexico’s most recognized folkloric ballet in the world. It has represented the country at important international festivals and events for Mexican embassies in more than 40 countries, such as Turkey, Spain, Israel, the United States, France, Korea, Italy, Greece, Germany, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Canada, Suriname, British Guiana, Peru, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Macau and Panama.
The ensemble performed at the inauguration of the Summer Hall of the Cairo Opera House in Egypt and the Inauguration of the International Book Fair in Santiago, as well as at the 20th International Folklore Festival in Chile, the XXXV Garden and Sea Week of Los Alcázares in Spain, the Hispanic Heritage Festival, Hispanic Heritage Week in Madrid and Torre Vieja in Alicante;
On 2nd March 2017, the executive, legislative and judicial branches of the State of Mexico awarded the group for its successes and as one of the groups that have passed on the state’s cultural traditions around the Word (Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz STATE OF MEXICO AWARD)
Its artistic and cultural work serves as the basis for the structure of the new concept, the Menchaca Folkloric Ballet “I Love Mexico”. Participants have taken part in national tours in Veracruz, the State of Mexico, Mexico City and Michoacán; as well as international tours located in Costa Rica, Israel and Egypt. Apart from important invitations (to the Split International Folklore Festival in Croatia, the 12th FOLK INSPIRATIONS International Festival of Youth Creativity in Poland), visits to Morocco, Slovenia, Hungary and Jordan are planned.
